Haven’t driven one with the new engines, but a Discovery isn’t miles away in how it drives - certainly different from an XC90, unsurprisingly more like an L405. Absolutely not “sporting” and I ...

It’s interesting that absolutely anything can be twisted into an attack on the hated JLR. 150 miles of hybrid electric range is a lot by today’s standards (albeit with an IC engine only as range e ...

Generally just bumper height vs a lower vehicle that makes 4x4s/SUVs/whatevers appear to fare better in minor accidents - crash structure has to deform to work in everything.

I haven’t tried a 110 on coils, so not a direct answer, but whichever suspension they’re very different things - an XC90 is really just a taller estate car. For what it’s worth, I have the use o ...

The L460 should have been launched by now, but for the obvious reasons over the last 18 months.

I’d wager I’ve used Defenders for “work” far more than most - just because it has a a job to do, that doesn’t mean that it needs to be rubbish at everything else. Why be a masochist?

Global supply issues are why cars are in demand at the moment (hence people making five figures on year-old Defenders). That or there are a lot more wannabe macho men than we thought.

As opposed to the Grenadier, which was obsolete before it was conceived?

Sounds like JLR are missing a trick here - drop Ralf a line, I imagine he’ll pay handsomely to resolve all his product planning woes:

Absolutely, there’s clearly huge crossover between, say, an X5, an X6 and an X7 with the same drivetrain. GLE, GLE Coupe, GLS, the same. Difference is LR doesn’t make hatchbacks, saloons etc - but ...

Every manufacturer with a range of models competes with itself, there’s niche upon niche nowadays (look at the innumerable variety of SUVs BMW and Mercedes make). Not sure a Jimny-style Defender wou ...

Under some circumstances, absolutely, you bet I do.

I've not come across anything as sophisticated as a pyrofuse on a light vehicle yet, and a megafuse is likely to be very little use. You can we ...

Pretty sure most modern cars have some sort of battery disconnect system in the event of a crash (pyrofuse or otherwise).

Do you really want the airbags not to work when you turn your car over?

Georg Kacher’s industry “Insider” column in October’s Car magazine. So very unlikely to be “pure speculation”.
