Job done!

I had to remove the steering guard, which was a pig of a job for access - the o/s rear bolt took 20 minutes alone and the o/s front was so tight that I sheared the bolt Shocked

Yep, it definitely seems to be a secondary (hand) throttle, but it is activated by a control which is integrated with the PTO winch hydraulics so there's no 'hand' throttle in the cabin.

Could be water pump or powersteering pump on way out. These can get a bit noisy towards the end if the bearings are going bad. Sometimes get driven past by old cars or vans where the noise is so bad/o ...

I did wonder about some kind of hand throttle / cruise control but the location of the cylinder is very low down on the inside edge of the chassis.

Could it be something to do with the PTO winch? ...
