yes thats true, i think they use some liquid weld.

I suppose its the old if your gonna do a job do it properly!

I have heard there is a way to split/carefully cut the seal and replace the old one with the cut at the top.

Looks like the swivel joint seal is leaking, search on here quite common I belive.

Sometimes it doesn't take that much heat, ive even nicked the wifes "creme Brule"! mini blow torches from the kitchen, she wasnt happy but the nut came off!

Have you tested the parking mode yet, that seems a great feature to record when away from the car, just wondered if its any good?

No direct experience of fitting these, but some insulation would be a good idea, if your putting electrical equipment i there, I think Silent coat is stronger/thicker than dyna matt and cheaper.
