Yes I have seen this before on a website... But I just cannot remember where. Thought it was a good idea too.
![]() For instance, this fitted into a metal frame and mounted using the same rubber as the original glass... https://www.cornwallvanwindows.com/store/p...vacy-glass Will have a think where I saw it. |

Another option would be a gullwing door window. i guess this doesn't work with a spare wheel and probably not to be left open in motion.

I always think that one of the best features of the Freelander 1 was the power rear window... Blooming' lovely breeze through the car.

I like the gull wing, but as you say with a spare wheel carrier on the back it wouldn't work well. I actually got the other half saying, "that'd be excellent for the dogs on a hot day"... ![]() ![]() |

Ok, I was curious about the Overland Products window so dropped them a line this morning.
Nelly (the owner) returned my message in a little under 5 minutes which gets a big ![]() Anyway, I queried the security bars and high level brake light. These are what the security bars look like; ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge And the high level brake light would have to be offset to one side, but would need to be glass glued (as it is on the TD5 anyway) into position during installation and the wiring routed around the frame (which mine is anyway due to the element breaking). But, for all you camper conversion bods out there... Who wouldn't want a convenient coffee dispensing hatch in their converted Defender?!?! ![]() Click image to enlarge In other news they are about to release their own version of the gullwing rear windows. It is currently all in aluminium but glass will be an option later on. Have to say it has been an incredibly long time since I have had a good helpful conversation with a company as I have done this morning. I think Miffy has found a new favourite accessory designer/manufacturer/distributer... ![]() ![]() Website: https://overlandproducts.co.uk - Just for clarity sake, I have nothing to do with this company at all, just relaying my excellent experience this morning. |

For those of us with all round corners (i.e the later style door) there is this option that I saw on a different youtube video. They do a bottom square corner version as well.
https://explore-glazing.com/en/products/la...-post-2002 I haven't bought one (but could be tempted) and they are Dutch not British but the Dutch do seem to have made some interesting and different accessories for the Defender over the years. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper. Not yet, it’s still on the list though, along with some other improvements for camping and sleeping. 1983 110 automatic OM606 |
