Hi Simon,
Please let me know whether they solve your issues.

Beyond the ideas in the other thread, brake fade to me would suggest that your rotors/ pads are getting hot. Since putting grooved and vented disks on my Overland Vehicle, which is pretty hefty, I have yet to experience brake fade. If anything the hotter they get the better they work.
It also has wheel spacers which I put on to assist with stability but I'd bet that they also improve air flow around the disks.
Maybe worth a look if the hoses don't make much difference and it still bothers you.

I had a similar problem, turned out to be a small leak in the vacuum hose to the servo. The brakes worked fine and there was some power assistance but it was weak, you had to really push, and there was no 'bite'. Much better with a new piece of hose.

I recently replaced my brakes, rotors, pads and calipers on my 2000 TD5 with the Alive setup having had ongoing problems with poor brake performance

It is now very good and progressive. I would recommend looking at this setup.
