Anyone confirm what mpg they are getting out of the V8 when at 'cruising speed'?
The PHEV is great but at, say, 77mph you realistically get 20mpg (and rpm is c.2,100 or so). Smaller, turbo petrols don't seem to like high speed work too much. I know it's better at 65 or even 70mph but I just can't deal with all the lane changes that entails. Wonder whether a bigger engine trying less hard (and presumably geared higher?) actually does better? Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Does sound like pushing the speed upwards makes a smaller difference with the bigger engine. I can easily get the P400e down to 16mpg on French autoroutes! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

We have just brought a new 110 V8 and i can confirm that the highest MPG you will get when cruising would be around 20mpg. I find that cruise control gets a lower MPG then when driving yourself and using the hills/gradients to you advantage where i got the MPG up to 21.8 on a journey to Scotland last week.
Around town and being sensible you are likely to see around 16-18mpg and driving it how it should be driven  will give you less than 15 mpg........
Smiles per gallon i think is what counts with these... |

You will also find that the maximum allowable speed on the French Motorway is 130kph (80.7 mph).
I had several range rover and LR4 3/4 (4.4 & 5.0) V8s. I used to commute from Abu Dhabi to Dubai at a steady 110 kph day in day out with my Range Rover getting 11.1 L/100km, which is 25.45 MPG(UK) at 68 mph. Now in France with inflated fuel prices it makes me take my BMW 318 diesel which regularly gets real life 3.8 l/100k (74 MPG (UK)) cruising at 100-110 km/hr. Goes up to about 65 MPG when you do 130kph, quite a big difference a little bit more speed makes. |

I get about 20/21/22 cruising at ‘motorway’ speeds. One of my regular journeys is 100 miles and about 90 of that is motorway and I get around 21mpg for the trip.
Overall mpg for the 7k miles done so far is 20, with a best tankful of 23 and a worst of 17, a fairly high proportion of the total mileage being motorway in the UK and Europe. Re demonstrator, my dealership had one through most of 2021 which is when I tried it. Don’t think they have one now. But they do have four 75th Anniversary models if anyone's interested! |

We are running our 110 from 21-22.7mpg easily around Melbourne. Towing heavy trailers is around 19mpg and definitely not going slow. m

25.7mpg is my best cross country from Pembrokeshire to Staffs, 177 miles avg speed 42mph, 22mpg on motorway cruising at 75, mine's a 90

not a Defender, but these are the figures on my RRS, which is mostly short distance/town driving:
When cruising on the open road, cruise control on 130kmh returns 11-12L/100km. Best I've ever seen was 11.1L/100km on a 34C summer day  --

Whilst mine has just gone back to LR and I have a new one coming, the result of nearly 3,000 miles, 80% on motorway was 20.1 mpg.
I am reasonably lead-footed as are most who buy these I guess. |
