Activity Key - How reliable are they?
So I got myself an activity key/watch and fortunately the dealership hadn't given me my second key yet so they could code it into the vehicle.

I have now had it for about two months and to be honest I am a little concerned about using it especially in some of the very remote places I go to like in two weeks I will be approx. 1400kms deep in the bush away from help.

If the activity key doesn't work for some reason, what are the options to get into the Landy and moving again?

Sorry I can't speak from experience, I've tried with the last 2 cars to have an activity key and both times given up trying to get one and actually get a dealership to make it work! My new car they deleted it as an option due to shortage of parts.

However, my understanding is that when you use the activity key it effectively disables the normal smart keys. If you and your car will both have phone reception where you are going that is less of a concern as you can open it from the app and then sort things out, but otherwise I think you'd want to take have a backup plan like leaving a physical key (to unlock the doors) hidden somewhere if that remote. Just my tuppence, others will have far more experience than I.

I use mine semi-regularly and have never had any issues so far.

My understanding is that the internals are pretty much the same as a normal remote, so shouldn’t be too much of a concern, though obviously you need to take care of the touch screen.

Make sure you charge the battery too, it’s nothing like a normal remote. Cheers, David
