Indicators not working, Hazards do...
Hi there,

Just trying to fix the minor issues on the new to me 110 Wolf and the last thing seems to be the indicators.

All lights flash on the hazard switch but nothing happens on the indicator switching. The stalk is brand new and all other operations on the stalk work fine. I have sprayed the loom multi connector to the stalk with contact cleaner (I have been religiously doing this with every electrical connection I take apart as it has been the fix for some issues).

Obviously I checked the fuse but that's fine and so are the other operations that run off the 7.5A fuse.

Is there a hidden relay or solenoid I am missing? I'd rather fix this myself than pay the indy to trace the fault.

Any help very gratefully received! 2016 D4 HSE

Is the basic loom on the Wolf the same as a 300tdi one or totally different?

Is the hazard switch supplied with and (in the off position) giving out the 12V ignition feed for the indicators?  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

OK the Wolf is slightly different than a standard 300 Tdi, but the principle above applies at the moment.

Do you have an ignition switched supply at pin 8 of the hazard switch (GREEN above, GREEN/YELLOW on a Wolf)?

This is supplied from Fuse 4 on a Wolf, the supply to Fuse 4 is from a ignition controlled relay.

With the switch off (Hazards off), is this 12V ignition supply then present on the LIGHT GREEN wire (pin 5) of the switch plug?

This is the supply to the flasher relay with the hazards off.

As the hazards work the 6/7 way lighting switch must be in the correct position, the hazard permanent and feed to the indicator ignition relay (mentioned above) are supplied from the same output circuit from that switch.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks Martin, don't forget though, it's all 24V

I waggled the hazard switch and they worked.

There's a Wolf and Tithonus FaceBook group who suggested that when the hazard switch is dying, it can cause this fault so a new one is in the post.

Thanks for the details, I shall squirrel that away. 2016 D4 HSE

24v Wolf hazards and indicators
Further to this thread I’ve got same issues . Out of the blue no indicators on stalk horn /flash ok. Hazard worked at that point . Then indicators started again . Next time out nothing. So new flasher relay . New switch . Nothing . I’ve metered purple live and green ign live feed to switch all good . Power to flasher relay . Fuses ok .only thing I haven’t changed is stalk , would that be it , what could go awry in there I’ve power everywhere I should have and running out of ideas ! ? Bloody typical been fine all year MoT looming then gremlins !🙄 I’d been in behind dash as wired up few dials and put heated screen in etc but everything worked before I re fitted binnacle .

Anyone help ? Cheers

Yes, it'll be the stalk. The innards get hot as they carry the load for the headlights, which softens the plastic and the contacts move out of position. They sometimes move back again, so miraculously everything works again for a while. The immediate solution is a new switch and the longer term one is to introduce relays into the headlight circuits so that the switch doesn't carry their full load. Darren
