I have informed Trading Standards (via Citizens Advice Bureau), and they have replied with a shed load of helpful advice.
In summary: "We will share the information you have provided to Trading Standards, there is no commitment for them to contact you directly, Trading Standards will only contact you if they deem it necessary. Whilst this does not help you resolve your dispute, it gives Trading Standards vital intelligence on how a trader is conducting their business." In other news, the credit card company have refunded the full amount. Lessons learned: 1. Check ratings before you commit 2. Use a credit card |

Their web site states they have been taken over:

After a bit more digging, I think the Huamsin Motor Co is a bit of a blag; if you search them out on Companies House, you'll see they don't actually exist.
However there is a chap with the surname Huamsin who shares a previous address with the aforementioned SuperTweaks, namely 71-75, Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ. This address is shared with another 290,910 other companies, starting to look a bit dodgy to me. In summary, I reckon they're scammers and hopefully people will stumble across this thread before they shell out any cash. |
