I was initially angry, then depressed, and then I read all of your responses and realised how many good, responsible folk there are (particularly on here). I know it only takes the idiotic minority to cause this sort of damage, but the majority do care and it’s important not to lose sight of that.

I recently read an article on wild swimming. There was a section on the legal aspects. The article suggested that no one owns the body of water in a river - only the banks and bed can be owned. They explained that as the body of water is continually moving then it can never be owned. I found it interesting and also useless - rather like my post…
Of course the tree is owned and it’s on the river bed which is owned, and can only be accessed via the bank, which is owned… Rolling with laughter

UPDATE: Ford is OPEN again. 22nd Feb 2023
UPDATE: Ford is OPEN again.

Some enterprising soul has winched the tree mostly out of the ford, downstream. So you can pass through the ford now.

It is very shallow where the tree was grounded, which was where the deepest part of the ford was.
