Dash USB C (?) auxiliary socket
Hi All,

On my MY23 HSE D300 I have now got less charging points and the ones I do have on the back of the centre console and dash are USB C type ports.

I have purchased the OEM cigarette sockets to install in the blanks on the back of the console but am just waiting for PowerfulUK to get the Y pieces to connect them.

My question is, if I remove the USB C sockets and file down the little notch on the plug and fit the cigarette female socket will there be any ill effects. Are they different voltages?

I think I would also like to change the Dash USB C socket in front of the passenger to a cigarette socket. Sounds crazy but my GPS is cigarette socket, camera battery and GoPro battery charger are all USB sockets and my cell phone is lightening socket but can also be charged from the wireless charger, so these USB C sockets are pretty useless to me.

Thank you. "Overlanding With Bruce" - Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@OverlandingwithBruce

Usb C connectors are normally designed to take more power than a standard Usb A socket.

Cant you just get another cigarette style socket added and leave the factory fit stuff intact.

I'd find it easier to change my charging cables rather than the sockets but maybe that's just me. Laughing https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

Yes me too and that's the first and most obvious thing to look at but some can not be changed. For example my Garmin cable only has a cigarette socket versions available. Stupid I know. "Overlanding With Bruce" - Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@OverlandingwithBruce

Thank you that would help but won't help the items with the cigarette socket attached where I can not get replacements to USB.
