Hose set for 2009 Defender
Any recommendations for a set of hoses for a 2008 Defender 110, Puma. to take on an extended trip? What should be included? Peter

Not the answer to your question, but why?

What sort out of extended trip are you doing? If it were me I wouldn't bother carrying spares, just check the condition of the current ones looking for damage or perishing and replace any that you are not happy with.

Can't remember the last time I replaced a hose, never had one fail in service ever, and I do run older and high milage vehicles.

Factory hoses seem to last the life of the vehicle these days and have done since the 1980s. I suspect the hoses on my 1994, 165k 110 are the originals and I would be happy to drive across Europe and back without considering changing them.

If you do replace any I would get genuine items rather than eBay specials or other unknown sources. Fit and forget is worth the extra £££

Which hoses are you talking about? Intercooler hoses fail like clockwork, but rather than carry spares just upgrade them to silicon.

Thought a spare set for expeditions would be a guarantee that none would fail.

Rather than full hoses, what about a couple of aluminium joiners of the right diameter? Perhaps an elbow? A full set of hoses would be quite a bulk parcel to be carrying round, and if you've not replaced a hose yet will you need to replace one whilst away?

That said I've just holed the 3rd turbo to intercooler hose on mine as it makes contact with the steering knuckle. 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone
