15p - replacement engine impact on ECU?
Hello Wiseones

I'm rebuilding a spare engine that was supposed to be good (but was not really decently in shape) with its injectors etc.

So far I have taken it appart and was wondering if the "new" Injectors to the car will make any issues from an ECU perspective? Hence would i need to tell the ECU that there are new injectors mounted or can I swap it over without much hustle?

If thats an issue I might cannibalize the existing engines Injectors and clean them up and mount them into the refurb block ... which would basically mean to open that up too which I'm not too keen to do at the moment

Thanks for sharing your insights Td5 110 Station

injectors will need coding to the car if they are the same green or black tops. it will run though without coding. on a rebuild i wouldn't use unknown injectors but would swap them for a good set of refurb ones with warranty

Thanks for the insights - they should be both green ones given that the engine is also from a Defender 15p - unless the factory randomly selected the injectors during production.

I see the point with the refurb injectors (lrparts.net offers 5 refurbs for 1k pound)

To understand it correctly:
even the new refurbed ones will need coding? Guess that would require a LR specialist or access to the software at least .... Td5 110 Station

It will run on non coded injectors, mine has for years. Obviously it will run better coding them to the ECU, even refurbed ones will need coding.
