Fuel Gauge to Sender Wiring
Hi all,

I had my split fuel tank replaced recently along with the dip tube sender that was also leaking. The new tank has reverted back to the original spec float sender. I knew that the old VDO dip tube gauge wasn't compatible with the float type so ordered a new float gauge to match my other VDO gauges fitted.

The new gauge is reversed which isn't really an issue as who doesn't mind getting more fuel the further you go but it would be nice if it was correct.

Does anyone know if it's a simple case of flipping the wires (I've not looked yet) or is it more likely a compatibility issue between sender & VDO gauge? 300tdi 90 CSW

VDO doc I found says this

Note: You must install so float ball is positioned to the
sender body, when the float pivot is facing you. If you have
found that your gauges reads backward after installation you
have installed the float in backwards. To correct this you
must disassemble and reposition the float.

I've not looked at the current float yet but i'm not very optimistic that the float can be repositioned. 300tdi 90 CSW
