Would like a set in 17" - a fair compomise between the 16" and less "oversized" than an 18" in my opinion. Zaid-M

aren't the 16x8s likely to just be Naka rims rather than anything new to the market?
The 18s are an interesting addition but I'm continually blown away that no one has focussed on making a 16x7 or 16x6.5 tubeless aftermarket rim. A modern rim with classic (pre-wolf) looks that can take factory-sized 235 tyres without tubes has to be the most in-demand rim in both the Defender and Series world. I've got a set of D130/one ton rims but would never actually fit them given their value/nickability coupled with not liking tubes - especially modern low grade rubber ones. If anyone made an aftermarket rim of a traditional size I'd want to buy a set for every one of my Land Rovers. |

@gasket: The 130 wheels and the 1 ton rims aren't the same thing.
The 130 wheels (ANR1534) are quite often advertised as the mythical '1 ton deep dish wheels' but they're not the same and are nowhere near as rare. They quite often come up on ebay for £400 or less for a set. The genuine 1 ton deep dish wheels (569204) are rare and command a higher price. Even rarer are the Genuine 2B deep dish wheels (569203) as they have a wider offset again than both of the above and command £400+ per wheel (I recently sold one!). Saying that, I have a set of 5 ANR1534 in my garage if anyone want's to give me £2k for them  |

Thanks Camelman - you're quite right and I've fallen into a trap there that I've corrected others on the past.
In my mind I'm grouping the D130/HD110 ANR1534s and the One Ton rims together given their similar offsets and then keep the lower offset 2B forward control rims out of my mind given their rocking horse poop pricing. Like, I'm sure, yourself I'm always watching the mis-advertised ones on ebay as I keep considering selling my, less rare ANR1534s, and buying a whole project car with the proceeds. For a long time there were chancers advertising them for £1500+... but now they've started to sell at that price too: crazy. I once had a couple of true 2B FC rims mixed in with three 130 rims and tried for years to make a whole set with no success. I sold them on - and even 10 years ago I still got £100 a rim. Should have kept them, better than an ISA. In my current pile of wheels, as well as a set of ANR5307 alloys, correct for my planned "97" NAS build, I have the ANR1534s and a genuine set of tubeless wolfs. Given the wolfs are tubeless and easy to replace I just can't justify fitting the ANRs, which is a shame as they'd look fantastic. PS: I only have the one Defender, but two 2As and one SIII. Really enjoyed your Last Lightweight build thread. I have a SIIA with the last assigned chassis number from the final military contract, built in 1972 long after the SIII went into production. Its wishful thinking hoping that its the 'last 2a' but I have a trip to Gaydon planned to go through the build records of all the different prefixes to see the how close it was to the last one coming off the line. If by some miracle LR decided to build them in chassis number order on that day (unlikely) then it would be great to get a shot of it with your lightweight. The last SIII is in the BMH museum at Gaydon along with the last RRC and the last Defender and the last 2-door range rover is (or was) in Spain. I was trying on the S2Club forum to see if the last S1 had been identified as that would make the set and a lovely article for one of the mags - apparently it hasn't been. |
