LED Headlight Upgrade not working
I've upgraded the headlights on my 2009 Puma to WIPAC LED with Halo. The RH side is working fine but the LH headlight and main beam isn't working. The Halo is fine because that feeds from the side light.

From reading other posts I thought there was a switch problem so replace the main light swith and the main beam /indicator stalk too with Lucas units. Still not working. I've put a multimeter on the supply (blue/pink and blue/grey with black wires and there is nothing. Tested at the grey loom connector at the bulkhead....nothing. There is the relay delete thing in place (big pink one) above fuses.

Any ideas?

Check fuse 23 and 25 in the main dash fuse box. On a Defender the headlights are fused separately. Both should be 10amp fuses.

Do you have power at those fuses?

To be clear. You say “There is the relay delete thing in place (big pink one) above fuses.” Is it a relay delete, or is it the dim dip bypass. I didn’t think the bypass was pink. Pink was the working relay.

It is likely the dim dip that needs disabling, this was a headache that I had. Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

Thanks Geobloke. I did some more testing then realised I was testing the wrong slots in the fuse box. I basically been looking at the fuse box upside down! When I pulled the right fuses at least one was blown put new ones in and everything now working! I both happy and really annoyed with myself for making such a school boy error…and I spent £70 I did need to on new switches.

Landy Andy…yes I meant the bypass it’s the YWZ 10003.

Thanks everyone for making me recheck the more obvious stuff.

Hello,

Did you pass the MOT with the halo wired into the side lights? I’ve got a set and just trying to fact find before fitting!

Thanks

I’ve had the halos wired into the sidelights/markers for quite few years now, and whilst I did initially think it might not get past the MOT Tester, it hasn’t been an issue.

That said, I’ve now probably jinxed it…

Ah ok, thanks for letting me know. I wasn’t sure whether to wire halos into side lights or spend a bit more time and wire into the ign!

Although it probably shouldn’t be the case, we all have very different experiences of MOT Inspectors and MOT tests.

I appear to have a decent MOT Inspector who understands and likes Land Rovers.

I’m not suggesting for one moment that he would apply too much discretion with regard to an issue affecting safety, but he does appear to apply common sense.

Having said all that, he’s never really commented on the LED headlamps with the halo connected to the sidelights/markers, and they’ve been fitted for a few years.

He does often tell me my truck is too clean! Rolling with laughter

Thank you, I think I will connect mine in the same manner, I was concerned that the Wipac halos might be a bit too bright at night but if others are getting on ok with them will follow suit 👍

Wipac Led Connections

Hi,

First post on here. Go easy.

I’m having a nightmare with fitting Wipac led headlights, should be plug and play but not that simple (for me anyway)

So my problem is that I have power to the headlights but only seem to have a low beam. With one push forward on the stalk the low beam comes on, when pressing the stalk forward again nothing changes, as if the main driving beam is not working. The full beam/flash is working and so are the DRL’s which are wired to the led sidelights.

I’ll attach a photo of the Wipac fitting instructions.

The main beam does work when the brown wire (main beam) and the green wire (dipped) are touching each other with the earth plugged into the connector. So i know that the main beam does actually work but once the wires are put into the connector and connected to the car I only have a small beam of light for both clicks of the stalk.

Any help on this would be great. Could be me being stupid Laughing

Cheers
