Switzerland 2002 Defender 110 Td5 SW Coniston Green
15p upgrades
Washed down my engine and it leaks literally from everywhere, hence I'm planning to pull it out and give the block some deserved love and replace every seal on it. While at it I'll also check out everything worn out that might need a replacement.
When rebuilding the 15p engines, did you all go stock or did you do some improvements/enhancements on the parts? While at it, i'd be open for some enhancements to increase the power output ...

(luckily I have a spare engine that can keep us going while the engine project is taking its course)

Not aware of any performance parts on TD5 engines, all the performance parts are ancillaries. I've not seen ports, improved injectors, lightweight parts etc for a TD5.

AMC apparently manufacture better quality parts than the stock TD5.

In terms of ancillaries you have:
EGR delete
Larger High volume intercooler
Improved filter housing
Hybrid/ VGT/ VNT turbos
Silicone hoses
Improved output Alternator
Various Solid turbo / intake hoses

Most of these can be done without removing the engine though.

If you have found performance TD5 part i'd be interested in having a look.

I already have a Stage 2 tune by Alive (intercooler, EGR delete and remapped ECU) which delivers more torque and power, especially good on motorway driving.

The GTB450 should give me more torque lower down the rev range and eliminate a lot of the turbo lag which is what I am looking for now.

If you really want more perfromance from your TD5 then you're probably looking at a Stage 1 or Stage 2 tune and which one you go for will depend on what sort of power increase you are looking for and how far you want to push it. If your engine is well maintained and in good condition then it'll take a "sensible" Stage 2 tune without sacrificing reliability

I have heard from a friend but not 100% sure if its true you can get upgraded cylinder head bolts to run more boost. I believe some of the racers and a challenge trucks do this to reach 300ish hp.

What's your plan for the Land Rover, unless you're planning to race it a standard remap will be all the improvement you need really.

These are not vehicles to sit in the outside land of the motorway. Ours has a stage 1 remap (detuned as after remapping it smoked too much) so probably around 150bhp and more torque.

lt's absolutely fine to drive, doesn't slow down on hills, still does high 20's mpg and tows the caravan without holding up traffic.
