Have you had the car from new?
I’d be extremely surprised if this car really “never” had 2nd row seats. If you were to examine the carpets on the 2nd row heel panel I think you’d find the the bolt heads where the brackets would fit, on which the seats mount. In fact, if my memory is correct, and a 2005 car is still the same as a 1994 one, then the seats are fitted through body/chassis mounts - and they will be there. I’m nearly certain I don’t have pics to hand of that sort of area, but a parts diagram on the likes of ‘new LR cat’ or ‘LR Workshop’ would show you what’s needed. You’d need: Seatbelts and fittings - the middle one’s a lap belt, two sides are inertia reel, and fit to plates on the sides of the car, forward of the rear window; The front brackets which go onto the heel panel; The ‘stepped’ plate which fits onto the front of the rear wheel arch; The spring catch, which fits onto this panel, and holds the outer seats down; The seats themselves! If no-one else jumps in I can try and send pics later. As I say, my post here does depend on 2005 cars being the same as 1994 - but judging by the fact that your rear wheel arch isn’t stepped, I think I’m right. If you’re the 2nd owner - or later, I don’t suppose you can speak to previous owners and see who might still have all the stuff in a shed? I had a look at this when I was sourcing my 110. I wanted the middle row seats to have seat belts and not lap belts.
A number of the 300Tdi and Td5 vehicles had the Puma style middle seats fitted so it can be done. I also viewed some had that 3 lap belts and some had the 2 outer seats with seat belts and the middle with a lap belt. This video gives and idea of what is involved. Click image to enlarge Thanks for the replies lads, much appreciated. @donmacn its a 110 station wagon and i just bought it 3 weeks ago, also my 1st defender so its all new to me. i work crazy hours during the week so i haven't been able to check for holes or brackets under the carpet and soundproofing but thanks for the info and help @Landy Andy and @Rallysteve, thanks for the pics, they will really help me, at least I have an idea of what to look for. @Cragster69, I saw that video during the week, only thing is i need it to be road legal in Ireland so I need an engineers cert. Thanks for sending it on. I have sourced two bespoke puma seats for the rear with brackets etc. and have found a place that can install them for me and provide certs for everything, although I would love to do this work myself
