Originality and the need (or not) for an IVA is the source of endless discussion on vehicle forums, typically with lots of opinion but little in the way of hard evidence to back them up. However, only a week or so ago this post https://www.defender2.net/forum/post946718.html#946718 offered the most clarity I've seen on the subject in a long time, with detailed responses quoted directly from VOSA. It's in a thread about swapping vehicle bodies but is very relevant to the subject of what constitutes a chassis alteration. The bottom line is that alterations of mounts to suit replacement engines (or electric motors in this case) would not be considered a modification to the chassis for identity purposes. Darren

Zero EV who specialise in retro conversions - MX5 and 911 conversion kits are currently their core models, currently have a 90 test mule. They try and strike a balance between weight of battery packs and range - they are not looking to match Tesla but instead look to have a range that matches the vehicle typical useage. Not sure on where they are on pricing but I recall £30k being mentioned
They were posting a VLOG on Youtube in which they gave a bit of an overview but they have not uploaded anything for a while - not sure it was generating the hoped for youtube views to make it worthwhile

Thanks for the link. Very informative.

Q) Is it acceptable to modify a vehicle bulkhead and/or transmission tunnel when performing an engine change or fitting another make?
A) No, Assuming this is in relation to a monocoque structure. This would be considered a modification to the structure.

Just reminded me how valuable the body on frame vehicles are vs monocoque for a 'forever' car Very Happy APK

Thinks like this just scream dodge bodge to me.

All that money and they can't even get the correct size spare wheel. 2 different sets of number plates from different countries.... and a trademark infringing 007 badge.

And that's just the first 1min 49sec Laughing

From what I understand of the Zero EV business model, they train up installers who then source their products from Zero EV to do the installations for themselves - if this is the case, it offers landrover specialist indies a business development opportunity for the future. The twisted thing 'reviewed' on pistonheads today (8th April) does not look as impressive as the reviewer is making out - more focus on the twisted made wheel nuts and how it worked in urban london than anything actually useful. And then there is the price Laughing

"Converting your Defender to fully-electric power is getting easier, thanks to a new drop-in kit from a UK firm.
Oxfordshire-based Electrogenic has been testing its new Defender EV conversion on a farm for 18 months. The kit is compatible with any 90 or 110 up to 1998 (when the Td5 engine arrived), and promises to dramatically reduce running costs."
