Towing 12S socket conversion
I have the correct loom to convert but just where is the grey connecting lighting block within the back offside quarter. I can't find it from underneath the car! Would it be inside behind the plastic lighting moulding?

The connector is behind the plastic shield that’s in front of the rear offside light viewed from within the wheel arch. Held on by two screws.

Poke your head in the arch above the wheel, shine a torch at the back, above the rear cross member behind the fuel filler pipes and you will see the plastic shield

Thanks, had my hand up there but couldn't locate it. I'll just follow the wiring conduit until I find it.

Just reporting back following installation.

Purchased a PF Jones 13s socket and loom, very competitively priced at around £74. Very straight forward install, even without jacking up the car. All worked upon testing.

Good to hear it all went well.
Note that as you now have a 13 pin socket it will now be tested as part of the MoT, so another thing to cover in a pre mot check.

Would I be correct in thinking that this kit provides only those pin functions already present in the 7-pin 12N socket on the 13-pin? I presume it doesn't include the pin functions traditionally found on a 12S socket?

I consider the kit as plug and play. There's a pre-wired socket to plug into your socket behind the rear offside wheel (remove the existing plug if your car already has a towing socket which needs to be taken off). Immediately all the normal towing lights work just as the socket you've removed.

The rest of the supplied loom is routed under the car to the battery box, fixed on with tie wraps. All that's to be done in the battery box is to connect a supplied voltage controlled relay and stick to the box wall and finally connect up a positive and negative to the battery.

It powers everything on the caravan that is needed.

One bit of work is you have to do is connect all the wires to the socket as they assume you have a socket plate with a hole in it.

Evidently I would not be correct, which is good news! Laughing

Can confirm its an excellent value and well performing kit, have had one fitted for circa 3years now

And yes it includes everything required for the 13pin to work in full operation
