Mystery holes 300tdi
Hi all,

I was under my defender replacing the oil pressure switch which has cured my low oil pressure light (little win) and I spotted these two bolt holes, for want of a better word:

1) in the gearbox:

Really hoping this isn’t the drain hole.

2) behind the belt:

Both unrelated of course, but I was hoping someone could advise whether there should have been bolts there and what the consequences of running without them in would have been.

I know that will sound daft to some but I have a vague memory of some bolts under the car being there just for wading and perhaps that’s what those are? I’m here to learn.

Thanks
Dave

Leave the plugs out unless going deep wading.
