Loosening roof lining to run rear speaker cables?
Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a nice way of removing the roof lining clips so I can run some speaker cable along the edges of the roof either side.

Also I've known clips like this in the past to break when removing them, does anyone know the replacement part number so I can have some ready?

Many thanks

You can buy a set of plastic trim tools from the usual suspects: Amazon, eBay, etc.
Always a good idea to have some spare clips handy, some will break. They are available from the usual suppliers.

Trim clip pliers would be the best option as has been stated, however, two clean table knives (the ones you eat your dinner with), insert one either side of the clip and twist and the clip should come straight up. The key is applying equal force to both sides of the clip and nothing so sharp that it will mark the trim.

I use a lever type trim tool (and plastic ones when needed) against the door rubber.
Not being too forceful is the key, and if I can I prefer to get behind the headlining and pull that plus the fir tree clip.
I’ve never broken one, but could be easily done which is why I leave the head of them alone and go to the rear.

Running speaker wires to the back I ran mine up in the channel just below the alpine windows in gutter there and back down.
If you need to affix them visibly you can use some 3M VHB gel tape vertically.
There is also nice cavity between the B pillar door rubber and metal piece which is very close to the upper seatbelt mount. (Between metal cavity vertical and door rubber, you need to partially pull out door seal rubber a little to fit it in and then back in). Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧
