Superwinch PTO winch
I am looking at a PTO Husky Superwinch which is apparently off of a 200/300tdi, The question is will the shafts etc pass down the side of engine and ancillaries on a TD5?
Other question are the u/j's on the shaft easily replaced.

A heads up if you are looking for info on the Winch, it wont be a Husky (EW8 or 10) as they are the electric winches. Assume what you are looking at is a Superwinch H14.

The driveshaft is different on the 200/300tdi from the TD5 model. On the TD5 model, the sliding shaft fixes to the PTO end of the driveshaft and it's then routed along the chassis rail. The Tdi model has its sliding shaft just prior to the winch body and it sits inboard of the exhaust.
The uj's are the same as those used on an MGB steering column. Cheers

Thanks Laurie.

It is a H14W of 1999 vintage.
You would not happen to have any pictures or manual for as the shafts are just a pile of rust.
The sliding joint is as you say at the pto end but it completely knackered and according to the seller was routed along the chassis rail. So guess is it was fitted to a TD5, removed put onto a 300 and now maybe going onto a TD5 again.
He is wanting £350 ish for it.
The great unknown is spares, any ideas as Goodwinch says most were skipped.

No problem, if you pm me an email address I'll dig out a set of pdf files for TDI & td5 fitting. Parts wise, all bearings and seals are readily available from any half decent bearing suppliers or online. You may need to fabricate a few bits up as you can guarantee it's not complete set up Cheers

Our old Td5 had an H14 PTO winch on it and was a great bit of kit, would pull forever. When we got it the winch was seized up but our local blacksmith sorted it for us. Sadly he's now died so I can't ask him, but I seem to remember getting shafts and UJ's for it was a bit of a pain. I think he managed to find some non-genuine parts that fitted or could be made to fit. We ran the Land-Rover for a number of years and the winch never gave any trouble after he fitted the new shafts.

If you're interested I have a spare winch, minus rope, shafts, handle, etc that I picked up from eBay in case I needed spares for the internals. It's only lying around the shed and I could be persuaded to part with it for a fairly modest number of pound notes. Dirty Deeds - Done Dirt Cheap

Its a small world Wallace, you helped me at Auchterarder doing a SGN tree job.
I am thinking of changing from my Warn 8274 to the H14, as seem to be doing more winching esp since the multiple storms this spring. If I buy the one up here I might take you up on your offer.

Small world indeed Dave, I presumed it was you from the handle.

I really liked the H14 when we had it, like I said it would pull forever, plus being able to work it at different speeds through the gearbox was pretty helpful for tree work. I've had electric winches since and they don't work as well for trees, they tend to get quite hot if used under stress for a long pull. That said the current one is a Warn and it does seem to work pretty well. I find electrics tend to run on a little which isn't always great, whereas the PTO was only going when you had it in gear. The downside of the PTO is having to work it from the drivers seat, which means you can't always see what is happening very well, either with the load or how the rope is spooling on the drum. Dirty Deeds - Done Dirt Cheap

Well that's winch bought, winch, bumper, cable and pto in good condition, just need to sort out the heap of rust that makes up the driveshafts and see what can be salvaged.
