Having been in an old Defender that rolled and seeing the video clip of he new one, I know which vehicle I’d rather be in. My roll was at 40-50mph and ended up on its roof after rolling a few times on a soft surface. The new one was on tarmac and over a crash barrier. I was lucky, broken collar bone and ribs, but I walked away as did the driver.. 1983 110 2286 petrol hardtop.

A roll like that in the video would, IMO, be incompatible with survival in the classic Defender. That being said, the classic Defender would absorb more energy through collapse and disintegration in each roll so would be unlikely to have rolled so many times, although the first would would probably have done for the occupants.

It's best to drive sensibly and defensively in a classic Defender and to out-think and avoid all those other road users who are trying to kill you.
