Raleigh International closing
Did anyone one here have anything to do with Operation Raleigh / Raleigh International.

They announced they were shutting down yesterday after 40+ years.

I spent 4 years volunteering with them in Namibia , Mongolia and Chile, mainly doing logistics, driving, casevac cover and boat handler...

This pic is down in the middle of the Gobi desert.

Good grief. How sad, but I haven't heard anything about them in years.

Have there been any reasons for their demise?

They were still going strong up to covid but that put a bit of a dampener on things.

Photos seem familiar, from an old 4x4 magazine maybe!

Not sure if they've been in a magazine, they were from a Raleigh expedition my brother was on in the 90s.

Off Topic

Nothing to do with Land Rovers, but I am reading Ed China’s book.

He made the money to go on a three month trip to Belize with Raleigh International when he was 26 (well most of it) from the proceeds he got from promoting his sofa car.
