Is E10 ok in a 3.9?
Normally put super unleaded in but at a rural filling station today, they only had E10 unleaded.

Do the Rover V8's handle this alright or is an additive needed?

Depends on the age; according to the government website they think it will be ok for Landies after 1996: https://check-vehicle-compatibility-e10-pe...ic2GDtNUB0 "E10 petrol is cleared for use in all Land Rover vehicles with petrol engines starting from model year 1996. Older vehicles should continue to use E5."

The "super" grades will remain E5, and Esso supreme is actually E0 according to their website: "Although our pumps have E5 labels on them, our Synergy Supreme 99 is actually ethanol free (except, due to technical supply reasons, in Devon, Cornwall, the Teesside area, Scotland and NW England).

For 1 Tank you'll be fine. It can cause rubber reals and gaskets to perish if they're not the newer 'resistant to ethanol' but I doubt it's going to cause an issue with a single tank.

Even most garages 'super unleaded' has 5% ethanol in these days

I always put super unleaded in my 3.5, preferably Esso Synergy Supreme 99 when I can get it. Defender 90XS SW

Injector seals and the pressure regulator are other items worth considering as E10 compatibility risks - I am not sure if the regulator has a rubber diaphragm or a thin metal one.

Alternating between E10 / E5 is the stop-gap I am using.

Don't forget the acid rot issue will also be greater with E10 than E5, possibly less of an issue with a plastic tank though.

Not sure now. Having a read about that Wynns additive, it says suitable for E10 compatible vehicles. Being a 1993 engine on mine it's not.
Used to use octane booster when I wanted to 'upgrade' my fuel for events but this won't dilute the E10 contents. Maybe i'll top it up with super instead to dilute it a bit?
