| blackwolf Member Since: 03 Nov 2009 Location: South West England Posts: 18056      | The first thing I would try is disconnecting the harness from the brake light switch and shorting the terminals on the harness-side connector. This would allow you to determine if it is the movement of the pedal grounding something (trapped wire etc) or if it is a short between the brake light circuit and the interior light.
 The interior light is a switch-to-ground circuit so it is possible that is it a strange earth fault, and when you press the pedal the brake lights provide a path to earth. | ||

 I would check if they are simultaneously coming on together. So either with the help of an assistant, ir park it with the rear against a wall so you can see when the brake lights are on, slowly press the brake pedal until either one comes on. If they light up simultaneously, then most likely a poor earth that is causing a potential on the illumination/light.
