Rear door - opening from inside
I had a good laugh the other week when camping and I realised I almost couldn’t get out of the car because you can’t open the rear door from the inside.

Just the most bizarre omission?!

Has anyone come up with a solution? It seems electrically released but even the ‘boot’ button on the key fob doesn’t do the trick. Cheers, David

Don't the side doors work? There's a boot release on the inside of the 90 Hard Top as there is no other way to get out. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

Yes but when I have the mattress in the back it’s quite hard to get down to the handle, and/or there is often stuff there - rear door would be easier.

Anyone got a picture / part number for the HT interior handle?? Cheers, David

My dealer is working on this issue, how to and the correct parts involved.
I have a retrofit 'Hardtop' with no escape in case of accidental door closing.
Hope to share soon with all of you. No Mud flaps for my 90.!

Any update on this. I would love to have one too as I can’t use any roof tents/rack. My garage is 2m in hight.
So I need to camp in the defender which works well. I’m 1.90m and have no problem but beeing able to open the rear door from inside would be amazing. 110 D250 SE Tasman Blue, white roof, black pack, advanced towing pack, rear diff locker, driver assist

Just ordered the kit from PowerfulUK to add an interior door release button to the rear door - great idea!
Especially after accidentally engaging the rear child safety locks on a recent camping trip - the friend of mine who was sleeping on an air mattress in the back had to make a very awkward exit between the front seats - not easy for a portly seventy-one year old to accomplish in the middle of the night.

I was comfortably sleeping in my small travel trailer and Paul had to wake me up to unlock the rear doors.
