Probably not going to happen as the new Range Rover is built on a completely new platform called MLA-Flex which was developed keeping EVs in mind. This means that the PHEV battery is located at the bottom of the car, whereas Defenders store it under the boot floor, which can be seen as it raises the floor quite a bit. So doubling the battery capacity would basically render the boot unusable.
I think we need to wait for a new Defender that is built on a different platform to get a better suited PHEV or a BEV version.
