Battery Retainer thingamy
It seems my defender was supplied with a brand new but taller than standard battery.

As a result the retaining bar can't be extended enough to fit the battery.

Whilst it is wedged in quite well, I image in a big bump it could move. Is there a part number for longer retaining bars? or am I better off fitting a strap or something?

Perhaps there is an aftermarket solution?

Or is the answer just to get a less tall battery?

Could you get someone to extend the retaining bars, cut the metal and weld a new section in so that they will do the same job ? Clayton.

Mine (non standard battery) is secured with a Halfords universal battery clamp, the bars each side are long enough that I had to cut them down before the cover could go back on.

I have a tall battery and using the original angled clamping bar would not allow enough thread to get the nuts on. I considered extending the hooks, but then they would interfere with the cover. I ended up replacing the angle bar with a piece of 50x5mm flatbar which I had hanging about. It allowed me to use the original screwed hooks.
