Two piece doors
Evening all,

Th 130 has decided that it doesn't want the driver's door unlocked, I know that the door frame is pretty bad rust wise so this is pushing me towards replacement. I'm very tempted by the idea of going over to two piece doors (in large part because we're spending money like water on the camper conversion) both on cost and because the winder is in a terrible position. Has anyone done this and has it had any downsides?

After reading every thread I could find on series doors everyone that's done it seems happy so we've taken the plunge and have a conversion kit coming from SP4x4.

Correct, these ones to be exact https://www.sp-4x4.com/SERIES_DOOR_CONVERS...wp7104.htm should probably have gone for galvanised but unlike the push button doors the skins are still aluminium so I wasn't sure that it added that much. They will be getting some wax before fitting though.

They are out for delivery today so I'll let you know how they look later on.

Well initial impressions are good, well packed and delivered next day with no damage. I'll add the rest of the fitting onto my main thread, hopefully starting this weekend.

So lets say I have a ratty set of doors on my 110, that would ideally need the door bottoms repairing on all of them. - Lets say £250 all in for someone to do this plus maybe £100 in repair panels

Or, I purchase a full set of these for just over 1k (plus painting and trim panels) and sell my existing doors for about maybe £300?

They look lovely, but strugling to justify this in my head unless im missing something obvious?

It's not quite as straightforward as that, if you take mine the bottoms of both frames are shot so I would probably buy the repair sections with the short section of side already in place which are £60 each. The door skins are also really badly corroded so I would also need to replace them at £120 a go so up to £360 for the repair parts. I can weld and I have skinned doors before so no labour for me but I'm not short of jobs that need doing so would rather not. Added to that the winder mechanism on the passenger door doesn't work so I'd be in for another £15 for that. Once you're in there it's likely you'll end up adding other bits, window runner channels and seals are pretty ropey on both of mine and are £126 for a full set from SP so give or take £500 for the repair option. It would still be cheaper assuming you do it all yourself but from my perspective it was more about time given that there wasn't a massive difference in cost. If I'd been stuck on having the one piece doors it would have been out with the welder.

Started painting the doors today (over on my 130 conversion thread) overall the doors seem very good. One thing I would note though is that the kit doesn't come with the door cappings, I would say these are pretty much essential as the skin has gaps between it and the frame at the top which I'm sure would let a lot of water in. I'm intending on bedding the cappings on PU sealant just to make sure.
