LT230 advice
I may need to replace the front output bearing in the near future and need some advice in regards to fitting it. I'm reasonably confident in the methods to follow to remove it (leaving the front housing in place) but not so sure about refitting it.
Do I fit the new bearing to the shaft and tap them in as one item and if so do I knock in the shaft or bearing, what could I use to tap it in?
Or do I fit the shaft back into the housing and then tap in the bearing?
Would be grateful for any advice and tips.
Transfer box is out of a early 90's Disco if it makes any difference.
Many thanks in advance.BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

Fit the bearing to the shaft first, and then install.
I generally use a drift punch to tap bearings if I do not have the right size of tubes to fit in a press.
Always tap or press on the race that is being fitted, for example fitting bearing to shaft, tap on the inner race only.1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
