Rear storage. Any U.K. suppliers do this?
Looking for a rear drawer system to put stuff in.
Came across this from Oz. So cool..

Love the integrated table and the sliders underneath.
Does anyone know anyone U.K. based that does something similar?

Cheers

I like how that table is integrated. Not seen anything like that over here. Gearmate do some nice looking drawers and accessories, but no table like that. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Looks nice though shipping and handling may make it very $$$

5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details

I spoke to the EU lot today. strange thing is with the UK to Oz trade agreement it may well be cheaper than getting it from the EU.

Question is anyone else interested if i make contact and start an order? They are reluctant to just ship one for shipping cost reasons. But a palette full height is viable.

I’m hoping to get a drawer this year, but wouldn’t buy one without seeing it first. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Understood. I may look into the cost for one. but seems shipping is extortionate.
I love the fact it has no side rails and the table just adds a neat little touch.

I like it, and yes I need to get one, but I am in Spain so does not help you out. Also still not 100% clear on the no rails as they use Teflon what stops sand/grit getting in there and causing issues

Ps love the table Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

I'm hoping to go and talk to GearMate at the CV Show this year (they usually have a stand) and look at the quality of their stuff. The drawer looks good in the pictures and has quite a lot of Def specific accessories, but no table unfortunately.

The other one I want to see is Nakatanenga one, am hoping 4x4Overlander might have a demo model in their showroom. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

You could build one yourself. Not too hard as there so much info out there. I built this between Christmas and New Year using 80:20 type aluminium extrusion.

but you don’t have to go that far, you could use simple box section extruded aluminium along with plastic corner sections etc. and strengthen/panel it with marine ply/composite panels.

There’s also plenty of flexible height camping tables that I’m sure you can find a good quality one with the right dimensions.

SteveG - I love those drawers. Could you give me a bit more info or direction to the materials you used in your system. I'd be fully up for making my own, but I don't know anything about those interconnecting aluminium systems. Are the corner connection strong for example? Would it support significant weight on top. that sort of thing. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Here you go…
https://8020.net/

Lots of design info here…
https://8020.net/product-basics#

and tools to calculate deflection vs load etc.
https://8020.net/deflection-calculator

You can load most extrusion shapes and connectors etc. into cad tools like Fusion 360 to help you with dimensions to get a very accurate plan, then I ordered the extrusions cut to length and centre drilled where necessary etc.

For the top corners on the curved sections I used these…
https://8020.net/14112.html
They use 3x 8mm bolts to secure each extrusion, so as you can see very strong connection.

I also used these to provide connection and extra bracing throughout the frame…
https://8020.net/14065.html
and…
https://8020.net/14070.html

I had the draw centers made in stainless steel by a local fab company…

Thanks Steve, really versatile stuff. I’m going to draw up some plans (I used to be a draughtsman) and see where I end up. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
