Our son in law got a price of £9k from WBAC for his car a couple of weeks ago, because of work he could not take it to them for 10 days.

When he got there he was expecting to 'lose' a bit off the price, the price had changed - to £9300. !!

England 1998 Defender 90 300 Tdi CSW Epsom Green
Mrs Jim has a First Edition Volvo XC90 which we bought new when they were first launched in 2018. It has 22,000 miles on the clock and always serviced by Volvo.

According to WBAC it is now worth £1800 more than we paid for it new…..

lt's the same with a lot of cars, our 2020 Jimny retailed at £19,600 but WBAC are currently offering £28,000

lt's tempting to sell, but my missus loves the car and so do l, although l don't normally drive it. l've got "Elsa" my Cairns Blue 2005 Defender 110

The price has gone up on Elsa as well. l paid £14,000 in 2014 and now she's worth £20,000. But l'm not selling.

My dealers quoting 2023 for nearly all models except the "editions" where LR have secured the components for a specific number of builds. My D5 has risen £2.5k since the new year absolute crackers. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Not that I'm looking at selling but my MY2015 110 XS Utility has dropped 4k on WBAC since xmas and they're now quoting me what I paid for it 7 years ago....

Yeah the Commercial versions are dropping because of the Low Emissions Zones coming in, the Manchester one starts in May and any Commercial Defender will be £9 a day.

My local LR dealers showroom is already full of traded in hard tops, double cabs and Commercials

Received an updated valuation on mine, £53,840. Though WBAC assumes it’s had 5+ owners, changed this and it’s value is now £54,330. Not bad for a vehicle with a list price of £44k 23.5MY 90 D250 X-Dynamic SE, Pangea Green
Gone - 23MY 110 D250 XS Edition, Hakuba Silver
Gone - 21MY 90 D200 S, Tasman Blue, Fuji White roof.

This is where the earlier 2.4 TDCi with an M1 log book category should hold better value.

Well, the valuation of my 2022 Defender 90 Commercial has bombed on WBAC from £55,000 in June to £42,000 today
Although Motorway are still offering over £50,000 as are
my local LR specialist dealer.

The Jimny is still worth £26,500 according to WBAC

Values of older Defenders are still falling particularly around the London area with the expanding ULEZ.
l've been looking for a 2.2 TDCi 110 and good ones are now £20,000-£25,000
Last year they were £30,000+
Although some of those never sold as
they are still on Ebay!

The sweet spot for old Defenders is a 2005 XS Station Wagon either 90 or 110 whichever you prefer

After 2004 they had one piece doors that didn't rust like the earlier ones, and after 2002 the dash was updated plus improvements to the cylinder head.

The XS has heated screen, heated seats, aircon, anti roll bars, rear speakers and half leather seats.
All worth having

Station Wagons registered after March 2006 the road tax is £600.

The TDCi is better as a car, but many don't like the Ford engine. lt also had a much more
modern dash with (at last) a decent heater.

All TDCi's after 2011 are classed as "Commercial"

Try to get one that's done less than 100,000 miles. Be prepared to spend time looking after it. They need regular love and attention.
