Rear wiper not working
The rear wiper has stopped wiping on my 110 TD5. I noticed it was getting slower and slower in operation. I thought it might be because it needed some sort of lubrication but WD40 and grease haven't made a difference. I've checked the fuse and it's OK. Dead motor?

Have you checked the contacts are clean, especially the earth and that there is 12v at the wiper motor. If that lot is A-OK then it is time to open the motor up and have a look at what is going on inside. Could be just that the motor's brushes are grimy or the spindle is bunged up with rust.

Check the arm isn’t against the spare wheel. Check the relay under the dash, also check the earth to the door, as you know you have a live supply. If me I’d stick 12V direct to the motor and see what happens. That way you know if it is supply, or motor.

The motor was duff on mine when I had the same problem. One of the magnets had come away and water had played a bit of havoc in there as well

Had to get a new one in the end.

Thanks for all the replies; yet another project for the weekend.

Does anyone know if a non-functioning rear wiper is an MOT fail? I've looked at the Government MOT site and it mentions forward facing windscreen and wipers but nothing about the rear. Various other links suggest it is OK but I obviously want it fixed either way.

Worth a check of the wires in the corrugated rubber duct which runs between the body and the rear door. The cables often break due to fatigue where they bend much like the side doors.

Thanks for that; someone responded in the central locking thread about a similar problem so will definitely check.

A non working rear wiper is not an MOT fail.
