Defender engine for 2003 TD5 and 2014/16 tdci
Please can I ask for advice on engine oil, it is my understanding the preferred grade for both TD5 and ddci is 5w-30.

What I would like to know is if 10w-30 was used in both would it have any long term impact?

For 2014/16, 2.2 engine, oil needs to be low ash, due to the dpg. oil spec advised on this thread:

As above you need specialised low SAPs oil for the the 2.2 TDCI from MY2012 due to the DPF being fitted.

I use Millers XF Longlife C1, it performs well and if you do a search on line you can get it at a reasonable price. If doing oil changes I would recommend genuine LR oil filters as well.
