HELLO and rear wiring loom
Hi All

Just signed up to your forum as near the end of my refurb. Should of done it along time ago as i can see loads of info on here !!!!!!

So im at the near end of my build but have hit another snag. Im about to do the rear lights but the rear wiring loom is not making much sense.

Ive connected all the lights up to the right wires, as haynes manual says but have got a load left, see picture below

Im not too sure what they are for, if anything.

Also i have found this lead with 7 wires, see below

Im not too sure if this has anything to do with the rear lights or this is an previous owner how has used this. Unfortually no photo's where taken on strip down, school boy error, and 3 years later i cant remember

Im putting LEDs in and have not earth the loom at the back yet as just trying to sort out all wires before i start to attach to rear tub etc.

If anyone knows or has come across this before and knows a way around this, that would be great.

Many thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to the forum Thumbs Up

Start with the easy one. The cable with 7 wires is likely to be the trailer wiring harness that someone has put crimp bullet connectors on.

The extra cables you have are for a left hand drive Defender. LR just added the the extra wires to save on having a left and right hand wiring loom. The good news is that if you ever want to add extra reverse lights you can just use these connectors.

This might help you Thumbs Up ... There's also a connector library on the site if you've not got a copy of the workshop manual

The other wires are probably for heated rear glass and rear wiper. The bunch of 7 is as geobloke has said, for towing electrics.
