Speedo Healer - Td5 Cruise Control
Hi folks, I am looking for some advice on a Speedo Healer for my 2002 Td5 110 with cruise control. I fitted the cruise control years ago and it worked great until I recently fitted a 1.3:1 transfer box from Ashcroft and an R380 with a V8 (0.732) 5th gear ratio for slightly quieter cruising. The speedo drive gear is the blue 20 tooth item, part number FRC3310 and it runs on 265/75R16 Grabber AT2. As expected the CC now doesn't function in 5th gear (it works fine in 3rd/4th) and from reading other threads it looks like a Speedo Healer could help. However, according to a GPS speed app on my phone the speedo reads correctly so I need to fool the ECU into thinking I haven't changed the ratios without significantly changing the speedo reading.

Any advice out there please?

Thanks, Martin

Thanks Dave, what confused me was I incorrectly assumed the speed transducer sent a signal to the ECU which in turn created an output for the speedo. Now I know the speedo gets its signal from the speed transducer and subsequently it send sends a signal to the ECU I can fit the Speedo Healer between the speedo and the ECU to fool it into accepting the new ratios and so render the cruise control operational again.

Cheers, Martin
