Defender 90 SE 250 ordered (but didn't feel straightforward)
Hi everyone. I have learnt a lot from this forum and would like to thank everyone. I made a provisional order in person at JLR 3 weeks ago to secure a build slot, went in again today to finalise the spec:

DEFENDER 90DEFENDER SED250 AWD AUTOMATIC MHEV

Santorini Black
18" Style 5094, 5 spoke, Satin Dark Grey
All-season tyres
Sliding panoramic roof
Black roof rails
Black Exterior Pack
Privacy glass
Electrically deployable tow bar
6 seats (includes front jump seat)
Acorn Grained leather seat facings with Lunar interior
Front jump seat
Light Oyster Morzine headlining
Cross car beam in White Powder Coat Brushed finish
Standard leather steering wheel
Heated steering wheel
Electrically adjustable steering column
Leather gearshift
Meridian™ Sound System
11.4" Touchscreen

Driver Assist Pack (for the ACC)
Air Suspension Pack
Cold Climate Pack
ClearSight interior rear view mirror
Fixed Side Steps

I wanted to add the towing pack but was told it is now not available since I last went in.

All in all it was quite confusing ordering from JLR compared to my previous purchases from other manufacturers. They seem confident of a 6 month lead time but having read people's comments on this forum I am a bit dubious.

Has anyone got a similar spec/colour and should I ask again about the towing pack as it would add All Terrain Progress Control, Tow assist and some other terrain response add ons for an extra £1k?

I am happy to respond to any questions or comments.

I think the situation is changing all the time and not even LR have a grip on it. No one knows.

You can change your build until about 2 months before its built... Dealer will give an exact date.

I would keep checking with the dealer between now and then - to confirm what can be added - when I ordered a year ago - I could not get the comfort and convenience pack - kept checking and about a month before the last change date - I was able to add it.

You can ask your dealer to keep trying - but I would not trust them... I kept calling every few weeks.. and getting them to check.

Seems these days - dealers are not interested in giving customers any updates (JLR or Ford) - its shocking that you need to chase them for updates... I heard nothing from JLR dealer - only me chasing them. Ford is the same with Transit Connect I have on order...

It’s just the current climate we’re in, the Defender 90 is my 11th LR and all have been pretty straight forward, even the 90 although it got cancelled due to the pandemic so I had to bin my 20MY and start again with a 21MY 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Build date ..... Lol.

Even in August I had no build date for a car being "built" mid September. The term being its showing on the system but its not a confirmed build date. I stress it could move (which it has)

Am I reading this right in that you cant order the tow pack on a defender?

Presumably that's just the softwares side of things tow assist etc, but can you order it with a physical tow bar? Cheers

Thanks for all the replies. Purchase was from Guy Salmon Stockport. Reason for tow assist not being available was due to chip shortage.
