sourcing castrol syntrans?
I'm being thick, I'm sure.

I've obviously been through all the search functions and the recommendations on the site for 2.4 puma gearbox oil and all seem to point to castrol syntrans 75W90. But whenever I search for it I keep being directed to transmax or syntrac.

If its still available, does anyone have a live link?

Its on amazon, but the picture differs from the description. Even the Opie website doesn't show it

I'd love to find a shop or chain locally that sells it (ideally want it for the weekend).

Transmax replaced Syntrans a while ago. Rgds.

ahh... that explains it. Thank you: wondered why it was hard to find.

I've just got lucky, my local eurocarparts had some of the old stock on the shelf - click and collect and I'll have it in the morning.

All sorted.

It is still called Syntrans in some markets, just in case anyone (like me) needs to buy some while travelling... Whistle

I think I have a bunch of these. I will have a look tomorrow. I no longer have a puma Defender.

I have 5 x 1 litres of the Syntrans if anyone interested. All still sealed.
I can take it to the lro show Peterborough one day.
If interested pm me. To obey selling rules, £20 for the 5 collected.
I will put this in the classifieds later.

That's a bargain for someone Bob. If I lived closer I'd have popped round.

Collected the oil from EuroCar parts and it wasn't the Syntrans I ordered - rather it was the rebranded Transmax Manual Multivehicle 75W-90: its still API GL-4 fully synthetic, so I'm assuming that this is perfectly acceptable for a MT82 box.

Interestingly the axle oil I'd ordered (Castrol Axle EPX 80w-90) had also been rebranded: now sold as "Transmax Axle EPX 80w-90". Again, hope that's OK for my Puma diffs.
