Accident Repair Costs
Not something any of us want to happen of course, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any experiences in having bodywork repairs carried out? The reason I ask is that someone in the US has posted a photo of their 90 having been backed into a bollard, and it having caused quite an indentation to the rear quarter panel. They claim that after a lot of back and forth with the insurance company, it became an insurance write-off.

The quote to carry out the repair to the rear quarter and bumper was a whopping £33k! - The person says they have taken the payout, and are back in the queue having ordered another Defender. Seems quite a lot for what looked like a straightforward prang on the rear bumper and quarter. Are these new Defenders really going to be that costly to repair?

Before ordering mine I got a couple of insurance quotes, and they didn't really seem any more than what I'd been quoted on a Discovery 4. So, do we think this repair cost being quoted in the US was something unique, or are insurance companies going to have a time of it paying out for costly repairs on these vehicles, and have to review the charges if they really are that expensive to repair? Defender 90 HSE 250D 2022MY - Gave up after two failed orders

I am about to trade in my L405 Range Rover for a 110 P300 HSE and NFU is giving me a refund of premium for the remainder of the year which implies that the L663 will be £280 per annum cheaper to insure than the L405. So presumably repair costs are part of that equation.

Encouraging then. Sounds similar to my experience too. So maybe it was just a yanky thing. Defender 90 HSE 250D 2022MY - Gave up after two failed orders

When TFL had a knock with their Tesla the first estimate was $2,000 which then rapidly went up to $10,000 Shocked

I guess that being a European vehicle will have an effect on parts plus as we all know it’s less paper work for the insurance company if they can just write it off.

Brother in law a few years back had his car written off due to the colour of the paint and the insurance company would not respray the whole car following a minor accident.

Surprised they did not get the dealer to make an assessment.
