Brilliant, thanks for sharing that thread. Thumbs Up

It’s addictive isn’t it - so many mods possible (and cheaper than the 1:1 version when you break things)!

Beautiful 110 Steve and some great photos.

Re: the rims before and after, how do the wheel studs compare in terms of length/stick-through? I'm guessing a couple of threads short of filling the nuts with the wolf rims, but would be curious to see if the ANR classics fare are any better in that regard (i.e. do they have a thinner disc?).

I 'needed' to fit extended studs with my ANR's the same as for Wolf rims. I say needed, my garage man wasnt happy and neither was I. I was always taught you need a minimum 2 full threads through the nut, so for peace of mind just fitted extended studs. James

Should never run with wheel nuts that have threads short when torqued up! Big Cry Rgds.

Land Rover sold them like that from the factory (both civilian and MoD vehicles) so the risk was clearly acceptable to them. Darren

I have them on mine from the factory; but then you think of the same engineers' response to poorly welded axles, and probably a few other issues...

But this isn't a response to a problem Confused It also ignores the fact that this arrangement came with the development of the Wolf vehicles and pre-dates the more obvious penny pinching of the Puma era by around ten years, so it's difficult to draw a line between it and later questionable engineering decisions.

Unless somebody knows differently, I've never heard of an issue arising from the factory arrangement of studs and Wolf wheels and they must have sold thousands of vehicles with that configuration. Darren

Yes, I agree not a response to a problem, but perhaps a further example of the mindset that leads them to conclude "the risk was clearly acceptable to them."

There's always going to be debate over value engineering versus plain cost cutting.

I think that's a tenuous link at best, I'm afraid. Darren

For what it’s worth, the premise of two threads showing though is based on a standard nut diameter to threaded length ratio. The wolf wheel nuts have a longer threaded area and even with the stud fitting slightly below the height of the nut there is more than enough thread engaged to get the necessary torque without stripping anything.

Don’t quote me on it, but general rule of thumb is that the length of the threads should be at least equal to the diameter.

Looking at your photos Steve I need to find a way to get my set of 569203 rims onto my 110. Any ideas? 🤔 2011 110 USW
