Intermittent starting problem
Hi all,

I’ve got a 2009 110 2.4 Puma. Had it’s fair share of issues and now I’ve got a new one! Been trawling the forum for some info but non of the issues quite match what I’ve got. Basically 9/10 times starts with no problems, but the other it all lights up as normal then when I go to start everything goes blank and no attempt of a start. Sometimes if I hold it there it’ll start after a couple of seconds, but most of the time it needs a few attempts then starts completely normally. Sometimes a wiggle of the key or turn off the AC if it’s on and it starts, hard to say if that’s it or if it’s just a bit of confirmation bias. I don’t want to go and replace the ignition barrel if there are some other avenues I can try first that aren’t as challenging. So far I’ve replaced the relays and I’ve given the end of the barrel a good clean and inspection.

Cheers in advance for any ideas!

Given the ignition switch a good clean up with contact cleaner and made sure there aren’t any loose connections there. Time will tell if it was just a bad connection.
