Sweden 1994 Defender 130 300 Tdi HCPU Masai Red
My Defender 130 300tdi always in progress
Hi, my Name is Emil, I live in Sweden and im building my dream defender. Its probably gonna be more pictures than words here, because im not the best in English, but i'll give it a try.

From the start my Defender was completly stock, it had nothing more than when it went out from the factory.
Except from the front bullbar, and the canopy.
Its always a progress with this car, sometimes I building someting to it, or mount anyting to make it better.
But now mostly someting breaks and i take the oppourtunity to upgrade it to better components.
Well sometimes i go the britpart way to

I try to make a list of whats happened to it so far. Then i add a couple of pics.

First i added:
Wheels white wolfs
Tyres Bf goodrich km2 255/85-16
Roofrack, dont know brand.
Black checker plates on wings and hood.
Snowcoal
New exhaust system from turbo all the way back.
New stereo and speakers

Then i changed brake calipers, brakediscs, wheal bearings in the rear. That i leaved to a shop, because i felt unsecure on how to replace the wheel bearings. That will never happen again, the cost was outrageus.

Then last September i wanted to weld a rust hole in the front bumper. That resulted in the defender being in the garage from September to April this year. Mostly welding the frame.
But I also renovated the driver side front door, 3 more to do later Sad .
Built a new heavy duty front bumper.
I put 2 electronic front seats from bmw z3 in, and put a new smaller steering wheel in.
I laborated with front seats in the back because I wanna make it a four seater, also try puttning a backseat from a range rover in, but I switched back to standard because i wanted the car back on road for the summer.
I put a new Varta 95Ah battery in, soon with a T-max dual battery setup along with 1 more 95Ah battery.
I did alot with with the wiring to, I get into that in a later post.
The alternator did not charge so I put a 100Amp in.

Then the suspention was all saggy and needed a replacement.
I ordered +2 inch ome springs and long travel ome shocks
Longer turrets and spring retainers
Longer steel braided brakelines.
Also put HD steering bars, disco 2 droparm link, and a Ome steering damper.
All the suspention, steering parts and the alternator was from Gwyn Lewis.

Then I did all the brakelines except the long one under the cab to the back, and the one to the front right side, because I got lazy an thought it looken okey anyway.

Then its time for Mot inspection

I wired up the trailer socket the night before mot, and I was in a hurry and did it wrong, that caused a electric problem. I solved the problem i thought, but when i drove to inspection i noticed it was still electrical problem. Well to late to fix that.
The mot inspector did say very good words for the work i put into the car.
But ofcourse he finds rust on the brakeline to right side brake caliper Embarassed , and the electrical problems.

I got 30 days to fix it until I had to get back to the mot.
I fixed that and drove 2 weeks, then the 2 front wheelbearing decided that it was time to go to heaven for wheelbearings Banging Head

So finally after a few weeks in the garage i have now changed wheel bearings, swivelball bearings, swivelball seals, brake discs, brakepads, driveshaft x4, and HD drive flanges.
New brake calipers is on its way too, but now I can finalen go to Mot inspection again.

Ahoy, always love seeing another 130! Mr. Green

Looks like it has kept you very busy! Do you have any major plans for it in the future, or are you planning on keeping it like how it left from the factory?

Also, your english Emil is better than half the stuff I see old "friends" post on social media Thumbs Up Stuart

Yes it has Laughing , but ive had it for 5 years now, so I have drive alot too, mostly this winter that I have spent in the garage.

I have lots of dreams and plans for it, but i dont know exactly whst route im going.
First it is building a minicamper. In some pics you can see a steelframe that i built, thats the start for it, but i gonna cut it into pieces again and start over, because i wanna build it bigger.

Then this winter i thinking of fixing all the oil leakage from the engine.
Also i wanna put 37" tyres on, and do som kind of hutchinson style beadlock wheels.
But im afraid it will not work great with the 300tdi and standard gearing.

Thank you 😊

Yes it's great to see another 130, they are great defenders, as said a great write up of the 130 and your English is very good Very Happy

Could i ask if the Tdi decals on the lower part of the wings are original ? if so, could you measure the position they are as i would like to put the decals back on Millie, as they were not on her when i bought her Rolling Eyes

Many thanks Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.
