[Wanted] OT - Paddle Board
Mrs Shroppy and I are keen to buy a paddle board, she'd like to buy a generic one off Amazon, I'd prefer to buy a better quality, used board as thats what I've always done with surfboards and the like.

So to that end, does anyone have one they'd like to part with?

Happy to arrange a courier or collect if you're local ish. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

If you need a paddle I’ve got a Red three piece carbon vario paddle for sale - adjustable carbon shaft and nylon blade (just put a new blade protector on it). It’s about 3 years old but hasn’t been used much (I have too much kit!) DM me if you’re interested, I wanted about £120 for it 2.4TDCI 90 - everyday brilliance

I'll bear that in mind, thank you.

I should add that I'm after an inflatable one so we can store/carry it more easily. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

Afraid I can't offer a board for sale, but I thought I'd mention that we bought several boards for work (youth sessions).

Itiwit had been a reasonable brand (Decathlon?) but the most recent ones aren't as good - deflating in a fairly short space of time.

Just FWIW. Donald

Hi Shroppy,I thought I’d mention in case you have no joy on here, we have used SUP’s on wimbleball lake on Exmoor and at the end of each season they sell their inflatable SUP’s, different lengths available and mid range boards, if there’s a similar water sport centre near you it may be worth a call, if you do venture down to exmoor I can’t praise this place enough it is set in beautiful countryside and with no motors allowed on the lake it’s very peaceful Thumbs Up cheers Paul

Thanks for the heads up on the Itiwit boards, I suspect the same is true for most of the boards sold on Amazon under various guises.

Paul, thats a cracking idea! I'll give the local centres a call tomorrow. Exmoor is also on our last of places to visit once one of the LRs is road worthy....

Should we end up looking for a new, better quality board can anyone recommend any good makes / models please? 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

You're right there seems to be a shortage of boards available, I was looking to buy over the past few weeks and watching online reviews etc., and in the end I went for a Red 10ft 8" Ride, not cheap but had good reviews as an all-round stable board and was available at last minute before we had a weekend away on the sea.
It should be noted though that I didn't really find any bad reviews for any boards at any price.

So I have no experience of other inflatable boards to compare this to, but the board, paddle, bag, leash etc. all seem to be decent quality, and the board is amazingly stiff.
The only advice I had was from a friend who bought a 9ft something board a couple summers ago, and he recommended I went for 10.5ft plus, as he felt his was not quite big/stable enough for himself, although fine for his teenage kids.
I've found the 10ft 8" is plenty stable for me (and I'm 6'6" & 120kg on a good day), and even when my 12yo joined me it still floated well, although it did then loose stability (as you'd expect!).
I got mine from The SUP Company, I rang to check it was in stock (as I don't always trust website info), it was and it arrived next day.
That's all I've got - hope that helps!

That's very helpful, thank you. The world of SUPs doesn't seem quite as clear cut as other industries I'm more familiar with (cycling for example) where more money generally equates to better materials and components. Or maybe I just don't know what I'm looking at. Rolling with laughter

I wouldn't mind spending good money on a new Jobe or Red board if I knew it would see a good amount of use... 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

Agree, it would arguably be more sensible to just hire one when needed, depending on how often you think it will get used!
I bought as we're on the water every day on our summer hols as we have a small sail boat, so it will get 6 days then plus a few other weekends a year away. If we get a good 5 summers plus out of it, I'm thinking that's ok.
We were sailing in Poole harbour weekend before last, and were able to tow the boy along behind us on his board, then we all had a go paddling when we landed on Brownsea. Good fun.
