TD5 welding work
I am planning for an electric welding chassis repair on my 02 TD5 defender, can you advise what I need to do to keep the electrics / electronics from frying other than disconnecting the battery and unplugging the alternator wiring?. Should it fire back up again afterwards if the battery is disconnected for a few hours?

Yes, it should fire back up again. The only thing to watch for is whether your alarm system has a back up battery sounder (BBUS) as this needs to be disarmed before disconnecting the battery. The process for that is in the handbook. I can't remember when they were introduced though, so it may not be relevant for your '02 model. Darren

Replaced a cross member and used a combination of stick (inverter at 72Volts) and mig welding. All I did was disconnect the battery. It started right away. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
