Rear chassis shock mounts
Were the rear shock absorber mounts attach to the chassis, are there supporting/crush tubes in the chassis that the bolts pass through or is it just open chassis? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Mine has v-formed channels inside, rather than actual tubes but in practice yes there should be

Indeed, there should be U shaped channels very close to the holes. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Indeed. Plus reinforcing C-channels top and bottom within the chassis rail, these extent through the whole rear section around the spring/shock mount.

Some of it visible here through the rear crossmember.

A Marsland one so not sourced via Land Rover but the same GKN chassis as a genuine one yes.

On Td5 (not sure if all years) and later, the angle iron reinforcements are all along both top sides of the chassis (for sure on a 90). Should be able to see the spot welds from the outside. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
