[Now Sorted] Puma TDCi transfer box linkage
I am in the process of rebuilding my Puma and have lost the linkage rod that goes from the gearbox high / low lever to the transfer box. I have looked everywhere several times, even assisted by the wife all to no avail. If anyone has a spare they would be willing to sell or point me in the direction, where to purchase I would be very grateful. Of course, you cannot just buy the rod from Land Rover and worst case I would have to by the whole lever mechanism at what is an eye watering cost. Oh how I wish my memory was better.

If your wife can't find it then it's truly lost. I know that whenever I've lost something, my wife has an uncanny knack of finding it immediately and then rolling her eyes at me Embarassed Laughing Darren

I do not know the 'ball' size on the LT230 high/low lever, but maybe can check if you can make your own linkage out of an old gas strut end fitting.
Just until it can be found. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Just thought I would get this back up the list to give it one last try to find one.
Alternatively,
If you do have access to one off the vehicle and could measure the length from centre of the ball socket to centre of ball socket I am will have a go at making one, as suggested.
Thanks

Do a search on defender Puma breaking . It will come up with something like this 2014 model https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353254209610?ch...gLsM_D_BwE

Looking at it I expect the linkage will still be intact and you can call them to see how much they want for it.

I do not think that the length is that critical. You may put the tbox in high and the gearlever in the aft position, and measure the distance? If you make it from threaded rod, you can always chop it and fit an extension nut (and lock nuts) to make it longer or shorter as you wish. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
