And it is only Wednesday...
On Sunday I covered 100 miles in the 2008 Puma, ZULU. Monday the wife took ZULU up town to do some shopping but arrived back a few minutes later. ZULU was losing water, you could see it falling on to the ground. I stuck my finger in it, tasted it, yep coolant. Nothing has tasted right since then Whistle
. The flow stopped to a drip once the engine was turned off. A quick look underneath revealed the probable cause as in the water pump direction. Yesterday I dropped it up to the mechanic I have started dealing with. He worked on Ford Transits for years so is very familiar with the Puma engine. (I know there are differences between the Ford and the Solihull version) A quick examination and he is almost certain it is the gasket which he had in stock. As he was busy working on something else I left ZULU with him. I'll give a full update when ZULU returns.
Today Wednesday my wife headed out with our youngest daughter Sarah, who has special needs to get Sarah's second Covid 19 jab in MASAI our 2011 Puma . Sarah came running up to tell me that they could not get out as the drive was blocked. Down I went to investigate and there was a tree down. My wife phoned a neighbour, I went for the chainsaw and my wife phoned the doctor to say Sarah would be late. Anyway we got the tree cleared and Sarah got het second jab,.....and it is still only Wednesday!
PS we thought long and hard regarding giving our daughter the vaccine but that is another story.
The water pump gasket which is suspected to be at fault is the second gasket in from the right in the photo part no. LR004389

Let's be honest. A tree down over your driveway blocking your defender is every mans wet dream on here. Wink

Being a Scot it’s mandatory to wear a skirt when cutting down trees with a claymore

The kilt I get, but cutting down trees with a Claymore is a bit of overkill isn’t it? Bit like ‘fishing’ with P4. Whistle Rolling with laughter

Using a Claymore for tree-felling is so "yesterday", these days the tool of choice is the chain gun:

Update.
Got ZULU back today. There was a leak at the gasket as thought but the pump was leaking too plus the bearings were damaged in the pump too. He opted to change the pump and the valve (the piece with all the branches coming off it in front of the pump in the photo LR004627) rather than taking the old valve off the damaged pump and fitting it to the new pump. I have no bother with this. Anyway the bill came to €250 (£214). So all is well in the world again (must check the rest of those trees Whistle ) 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
