With the Defender, at least with mine, when cranking the engine, power is temporarily stopped from other accessories like the cigar lighter - so what is possibly happening is the short break in power is causing it to go off. Surprised it doesn't turn itself on again (as my camera does) when the power resumes after the engine starts.

Thanks.
I think my cam had got itself in a tizzy due to me messing with it. Also gave me the memory card degrading message today after leaving it unplugged all night so it seems to have reset itself and I'll get (yet another) new memory card. Now working as intended. |

My Garmin dash cam is really fussy with memory cards. Only accepts the expensive high speed cards and doesn’t like big cards. Eventually had to use a 4 GB Transend card which was the only one to work reliably. Check the Garmin forums for your model.
